Keeping it simple in 2018!

This year I won't be participating in the Goodreads challenge or any readathons! I want 2018 to be more about pressure free reading. -Bea

Book Review: Party of One: A Memoir In 21 Songs by Dave Holmes

My Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars! My Review: I wanted to read this book because I mean hello Dave Holmes wrote it so I was sure it would be filled with nostalgia...which it totally is!!!! The nostalgia is strong with this one!  Boys and girls get ready to be transported back in time with this one! Hats of to Dave Holmes for writing a memoir in such a unique and for the lack of a better word cool way! A memoir in 21 songs is a totally genius concept in my book! The song choices and stories are interwoven gloriously! While reading this book I discovered that Dave Holmes is a pretty funny dude and seems like a pretty cool person! You will like this book if you are a music fan, pop culture fan or a human! Dave presents his stories in a way that I found to be very relatable to anyone who grew up as a human! No spoilers I promise but  Dave shares some pretty cool music related stories! Would I recommend this book?...Absolutely! I mean who doesn't wish they could go back in time eve

This was my first time reading Anne Tyler's work. I really enjoyed this retelling it was a witty, fresh take on a classic! The story ended leaving me wanting a little more which thankfully was delivered in the epilogue! Would I recommend it? Yes! It is a fun, light read, great story and characters! Mini Review: I Thought You Would Be Funnier by Shannon Wheeler

The first book I finished in September is.............. Author: Shannon Wheeler Format: Digital (Scribd) The smash-hit Eisner-nominated collection from Shannon Wheeler I THOUGHT YOU WOULD BE FUNNIER features the best-of-the-best of what's left on the cutting room floor from critically acclaimed Shannon Wheeler's cartoon submissions to The New Yorker Magazine. Shannon has won a dedicated following through his cartoons for The New Yorker, The Onion, and his own creation, Too Much Coffee Man. (Description from Amazon.com) My Mini Review: This was my first time reading Shannon Wheeler's work and I have to say it certainly won't be the last time! I fully intend of reading more of his work in the near future!  This collection contained witty, funny one liner's which is basically right up my alley! I was definitely a fan of The New Yorker Style of the cartoons! Would I recommend it? Absolutely!   My Rating:  3 out of 5 Stars!

Light always wins! Review: Be Light by Samuel Rodriguez

My Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars! My Review: I had the pleasure of seeing Samuel Rodriguez preach as a guest at my church... it was an experience! He spoke with a passion I had never seen in my life! In the bible we are told to be light! Samuel Rodriguez not only affirms that we are to be light but tells us exactly how we can be light in our everyday lives. I really liked the way the book is set up it is designed to be read devotional style over the course of thirty days. The chapters are fairly short and conclude with a reflection of the day. What you can expect content wise is a spiritual journey that reveals the scientific importance of light and it's relation to our biblical call to be light! I loved the fact that the information was presented in a unique way which really helped to drive the concept of  being light home for the reader! I also enjoyed the use of short stories which showed the reader how they can be light in various circumstances.     About the Au
