Audio Review- Fox 8: A Story by George Saunders

Running Time:37 mins
Format :Audio
Narrator:George Saunders (Author)
Publisher: Random House
Publication Date: April 9th 2013

Description: Fox 8 has always been known as the daydreamer in his pack, the one his fellow foxes regarded with a knowing snort and a roll of the eyes. That is, until Fox 8 develops a unique skill: He teaches himself to speak “Yuman” by hiding in the bushes outside a house and listening to children’s bedtime stories. The power of language fuels his abundant curiosity about people—even after “danjer” arrives in the form of a new shopping mall that cuts off his food supply, sending Fox 8 on a harrowing quest to help save his pack. Told with his distinctive blend of humor and pathos, Fox 8 showcases the extraordinary imaginative talents of George Saunders, whom the New York Times called “the writer for our time.”

My Review:

First off, It's always nice when the author narrates the audio version! I thought the author did an awesome job narrating the story!!! Since I heard the audio version as opposed to reading the print format I did not experience the phonetic differences at all. I think that's a good thing! Personally, I think I would have found it humorous but it would ultimately take away from the story for me. I thoroughly enjoyed this story even though it sent my on a roller coaster of emotions. It is a solid story that is humorous, sad, heartbreaking and hopeful.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 Stars! My Review: I wanted to read this book because I mean hello Dave Holmes wrote it so I was sure it would be filled with nostalgia...which it totally is!!!! The nostalgia is strong with this one!  Boys and girls get ready to be transported back in time with this one! Hats of to Dave Holmes for writing a memoir in such a unique and for the lack of a better word cool way! A memoir in 21 songs is a totally genius concept in my book! The song choices and stories are interwoven gloriously! While reading this book I discovered that Dave Holmes is a pretty funny dude and seems like a pretty cool person! You will like this book if you are a music fan, pop culture fan or a human! Dave presents his stories in a way that I found to be very relatable to anyone who grew up as a human! No spoilers I promise but  Dave shares some pretty cool music related stories! Would I recommend this book?...Absolutely! I mean who doesn't wish they could go back in tim...
